Warning: Don’t Even Think of Creating a Targeted List Until You Have Set This Process in Motion

There’s nothing more frustrating than to see your list shrinking with opt-outs as soon as they’ve opted in.

Here you’ve been working 10 hours a day placing ads in Facebook, Linkedin, Safeflists and other advertising avenues only to have half of the optins you got jump bail after only a day of being on your list.

It’s making you feel unappreciated and frustrated because you just can’t figure out why that would be happening.

Want to know why?

It’s really very simple.

People on your list have no clue who you are and what value you could be bringing them because you yourself don’t know who you are?

What do you mean, “I don’t know who I am?

Simply put, if you knew who you were, so would your list.

Then how do you make your list start to get to know you?

I bet you’re thinking that you were going to do that when they got on your list and you were going to be using your autoresponder messages as your tool to further the relationship.

WRONG!

Getting people to know who you are starts BEFORE you even have a list.

How’s that?

One of the best methods I have used to get people to know who I am is the use of video.

As soon as I learned how to do something online, I made a video about it.

I’ve got over 200 videos and although not all of them are ‘how to” videos, it still is a superior way of getting people to learn about you and getting your brand out there.

Another impressive way is to comment on blogs with interests similar to yours.

Why? Because you will at least know what they’re talking about and can add value to the ongoing conversation. But let me give you a really good tip.

Be sure to have your gravatar in place. If you don’t know what that is then check out this post I did which shows you how to set up your gravatar.

Another great tool is the use of blogging. Your blog is the perfect platform for you to show that you know what you are talking about.

So you don’t know anything yet because you’re just learning?

Perfect! Talk about what you just learned and how it’s affecting your approach as an online marketer.

And don’t be afraid to leave with a question unanswered. It just may be something that your possible readers may be able to help you with. You are creating a space to hold a conversation and letting others respond.

There is no better strategy than that.

And so, what will happen when people get on your list if you have done your best to be a “FACE” before promoting your opportunity?

Your list will grow!

Fewer people will be leaving it because they now trust you and your opinion.

That’s also when you will be getting testimonials such as these from people who have looked to you for help.  When your list feels cared for and valued they will respond in kind.

That’s why I stress so much the importance of “branding’ yourself to your audience. And I have found such a simple way to do that.

It actually allows you to build a list at the same time!
